Apple and Orange | Python Solution | HackerRank

Sam's house has an apple tree and an orange tree that yield an abundance of fruit. Using the information given below, determine the number of apples and oranges that land on Sam's house.

In the diagram below:

  • The red region denotes the house, where  is the start point, and  is the endpoint. The apple tree is to the left of the house, and the orange tree is to its right.
  • Assume the trees are located on a single point, where the apple tree is at point , and the orange tree is at point .
  • When a fruit falls from its tree, it lands  units of distance from its tree of origin along the -axis. *A negative value of  means the fruit fell  units to the tree's left, and a positive value of  means it falls  units to the tree's right. *

Given the value of  for  apples and  oranges, determine how many apples and oranges will fall on Sam's house (i.e., in the inclusive range )?

For example, Sam's house is between  and . The apple tree is located at  and the orange at . There are  apples and  oranges. Apples are thrown  units distance from , and  units distance. Adding each apple distance to the position of the tree, they land at . Oranges land at . One apple and two oranges land in the inclusive range  so we print

A Very Big Sum | Python Solution | HackerRank

In this challenge, you are required to calculate and print the sum of the elements in an array, keeping in mind that some of those integers may be quite large.

Function Description

Complete the aVeryBigSum function in the editor below. It must return the sum of all array elements.

aVeryBigSum has the following parameter(s):

  • int ar[n]: an array of integers .

Time Conversion | Python Solution | HackerRank

Given a time in -hour AM/PM format, convert it to military (24-hour) time.

Note: - 12:00:00AM on a 12-hour clock is 00:00:00 on a 24-hour clock.
- 12:00:00PM on a 12-hour clock is 12:00:00 on a 24-hour clock.

Example

  • Return '12:01:00'.

  • Return '00:01:00'.

Number Line Jumps | Python Solution | HackerRank

You are choreographing a circus show with various animals. For one act, you are given two kangaroos on a number line ready to jump in the positive direction (i.e, toward positive infinity).

  • The first kangaroo starts at location  and moves at a rate of  meters per jump.
  • The second kangaroo starts at location  and moves at a rate of  meters per jump.

You have to figure out a way to get both kangaroos at the same location at the same time as part of the show. If it is possible, return YES, otherwise return NO.

Between Two Sets | Python Solution | HackerRank

There will be two arrays of integers. Determine all integers that satisfy the following two conditions:

  1. The elements of the first array are all factors of the integer being considered
  2. The integer being considered is a factor of all elements of the second array

These numbers are referred to as being between the two arrays. Determine how many such numbers exist.

Compare the Triplets | Python Solution | HackerRank

Alice and Bob each created one problem for HackerRank. A reviewer rates the two challenges, awarding points on a scale from 1 to 100 for three categories: problem clarity, originality, and difficulty.

The rating for Alice's challenge is the triplet a = (a[0], a[1], a[2]), and the rating for Bob's challenge is the triplet b = (b[0], b[1], b[2]).

The task is to find their comparison points by comparing a[0] with b[0]a[1] with b[1], and a[2] with b[2].

  • If a[i] > b[i], then Alice is awarded 1 point.
  • If a[i] < b[i], then Bob is awarded 1 point.
  • If a[i] = b[i], then neither person receives a point.

Comparison points is the total points a person earned.

Given a and b, determine their respective comparison points.

Diagonal Difference | Python Solution | HackerRank

iven a square matrix, calculate the absolute difference between the sums of its diagonals.

For example, the square matrix  is shown below:

1 2 3
4 5 6
9 8 9

The left-to-right diagonal = . The right to left diagonal = . Their absolute difference is .
